As energy consumers we may in the future participate as market players controlling our energy consumption through our existing devices. We may also generate energy locally and feed any surplus back into the grid and this dynamic flow of energy needs to be managed with coordinated communication. And, for the power industry, the right combination and management of communication technologies has the potential to reshape the operational and business processes of the entire industry.
