This weekend, The Queen, Head of State of the UK and 15 other Commonwealth realms will be celebrating her 60-year reign in a celebration called the Diamond Jubilee. The Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant will take place on the river Thames and consist of up to 1,000 boats assembled from across the UK, the Commonwealth and around the world. The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh and other members of the Royal Family will travel in the Royal Barge – called the Spirit of Chartwell – which will form the centrepiece of the flotilla.
Timings and location:
At approximately 14:30GMT, The Queen embarks the Royal barge, the Spirit of Chartwell, at Cadogan pier near Albert Bridge.
Then at 16:15GMT, The Royal Barge arrives at HMS President where The Queen and the other members of the Royal Family will view the Pageant sail past.
Monday 4 June, 2012
At around 19:30GMT the Diamond Jubilee Concert will begin, brought together by the BBC and Gary Barlow. Located around the Queen Victoria Memorial and just outside Buckingham Palace, 10,000 people are expected to watch the concert featuring artists such as: Shirley Bassey; Alfie Boe; Jools Holland; Jessie J; JLS; Elton John; Tom Jones; Lang Lang; Annie Lennox; Madness; Paul McCartney; Cliff Richard; and Ed Sheeran. Her Majesty The Queen, His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh and other Members of the Royal Family will also attend the concert.
After The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert and at around 22:30GMT, The Queen will light the National Beacon outside Buckingham Palace.

The Diamond Jubilee weekend will culminate with a day of celebrations in central London.
Between 10:30 and 11.30GMT, The Queen will attend National Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral.
14:20GMT – Carriage Procession from Westminster Hall to Buckingham Palace commences.
The Processional Route that the Carriage Procession will take will depart from New Palace Yard, up Whitehall to Trafalgar Square, through Admiralty Arch, along the Mall, and into Buckingham Palace through the Centre Gates at 14.40GMT.
15:25GMT – Get your cameraphones out, because The Royal Family will appear on the Balcony at Buckingham Palace. This will include: The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince Henry of Wales.
At their appearance, there will be an RAF Flypast and a Feu de Joie (Fire of Joy) from the forecourt – a celebratory cascade of rifle fire given as a salute by The Queen’s Guard, interspersed with the National Anthem played by the Band of the Irish Guards.
