Deliveries of smartphones exceeded PC shipments

Analytical agency Canalys reported that deliveries of smartphones in 2011 were greater than the total sales of other types of personal computers. In the fourth quarter of the channels were shipped 158.5 million smartphones, up 57% over the same period last year, when the market was supplied 101.2 million units of this type. In this case, for the year as a whole even greater growth: in 2011 smartphone on the market was supplied 299.7 million units, and in 2012 - has 487.7 million shares. The increase was 63%. computer market with increased only by 14.8% per year. During 2011 it was placed 414.6 million shares. Despite the huge growth in sales of the planets, which for the year increased by 274%, absolute sales figures grew at a pace not as smart phones. Tablets were supplied just 63.2 million units, of which 26.5 million last quarter. But netbook sales dropped dramatically: 32.4% for the fourth quarter and by 25.3% over 2011. Results of this type of computer equipment has been sold 29.4 million units, which is not much more than the supply of tablets for just one last quarter. Some growth was observed in the notebook segment, which was supplied 209 million units - a 7.5% increase over the previous year. It is worth noting that in the fourth quarter was recorded decline of interest in a desktop PC, which was sold at 3.6% less than for the same quarter in 2010.
