The mobile operator MTS announced the commercial launch of the Moscow region, Russia's first 3G network in the 900 MHz band in addition to those already deployed networks "third generation" at a frequency of 2100 MHz. The development of networks in the two ranges will, as claimed by the operator before the end of 2012 to ensure full coverage of the territory of Moscow and Moscow region network "third generation" and significantly increase the data rate.
The first fragments of networks 3G, MTS launched a new range, ensure coverage south and south-western part of Moscow and Moscow region, to the end, the operator plans to deploy the network in all areas where the earlier development of 3G has been limited.
MTS received permission of the State Commission for Radio Frequencies to use their existing 900 MHz frequency operators in Moscow and Moscow region for the development of 3G networks in March 2011. In January 2012, MTS received a certificate of registration of radio-electronic means, and turned on the air base stations UMTS-900 of the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Communications (Roskomnadzor).
