Ericsson integrates Telcordia

The integration of Telcordia reaches a milestone today as the company changes its name and adopts the Ericsson brand.

"The world’s leading operations and business support systems (OSS/BSS) are now gathered in one company," says Stefan Hedelius, Head of Marketing and Communications at Ericsson.

Ericsson acquired Telcordia in January 2012 to strengthen its position in OSS/BSS, a market that was estimated to be worth USD 47.2 billion in 2011*. The integration underscores Ericsson’s commitment to support customers in this area with world-leading, innovative solutions and services.

"With Telcordia under our helm, we can provide our customers with a broader OSS/BSS software portfolio and a larger set of capabilities, covering everything from software, network and system integration to managed services," Hedelius says.

The Ericsson brand will be applied to Telcordia products and solutions, some of them with new names. The brand will also be changed in all communication and marketing material, and the Telcordia website will be redirected to ericsson.com. It will otherwise be business as usual for Telcordia employees and the company’s customers.

"OSS/BSS is one of Ericsson’s three main focus areas," Hedelius says. "We are investing in the software business, and the acquisition of Telcordia is one cornerstone in our strategy. This should give our customers the confidence that we are here to stay and support them in the long run."

Ericsson’s commitment to OSS/BSS was recently confirmed in a report published by industry analyst firm Gartner. According to the report, Market Share Analysis: Telecom Operations Management Systems (BSS, OSS and SDP), Worldwide, 2010-2011, Ericsson is well positioned to become the world’s leading provider of OSS/BSS and next-generation Service Delivery Platforms (SDP) solutions and services in 2012.
