The mobile operator MTS has announced the launch of a social-educational project "Network for all ages", aimed at increasing Internet literacy and adaptation in the information society of the older generation.
The project "Network for all ages" was initiated by the MTS Group with the support of the internet and the Russian public organization "League of health of the nation" in order to promote modern information technologies and useful online services among older people, to help them acquire practical skills in using the Internet for solutions everyday tasks.
MTS Internet Development Fund have developed a special educational program "No matter how many years we have used, we have mastered the Internet." The training course consists of six sessions covering topics such as navigation and search information on the Internet, communicate via email, instant messenger and social networking, internet banking and commerce, and public and social services, recreation and entertainment multimedia (photos, video, TV, radio) and safety rules. The method takes into account the needs and socio-psychological characteristics of middle-aged people, and provides for the transfer of skills experienced users to beginners. Participants in the program will be part of an online community - can continue to communicate with each other and the number of young volunteers from the users of the social network of "Classmates", which will contribute to further development of the novices of the virtual space.
Implementation of the project involves a number of joint initiatives, social organizers and partners. In October, the Moscow-based Centre for MGTS to enroll for retirees of the company, as well as relatives of the MTS Group. Before the end of the year at the site the National Health League (All-Russia Exhibition Center, Pavilion № 5) opens equipped MTS mobile internet start-class and free classes to the public. It is planned to conduct retreats and regular classes online literacy in social service centers in Moscow and the city library. To involve young people in the project MTS and the Department of Education in Moscow in October and November will hold a competition among high school students and students of colleges and universities to develop the concept of the project on the socialization of older people through the Internet. The authors of the best ideas will receive prizes from the company and support of the initiative. In 2013, the project will start in the Russian regions.
