Sign up for Droidcon and VHack to celebrate 5 years of Android™

Are you an Android developer based in Europe? If so, you might be interested in Droidcon London, one of the most influential Android events of the year. It will take place in London, UK, on October 25-26. And while you’re there, why not take part in the VHack on October 26-28 to celebrate 5 years of Android? The first Droidcon conference was held in 2009, and has been repeated many a times since across the globe. Droidcon covers all things Android, from mobile devices, to TV, to cars, to gaming, and so much more. Since London serves as a gateway to technology between both Europe and the US, it is the ideal place to host this cutting-edge technology event. If you think it sounds interesting, head over to the Droidcon London website to learn more, and sign up for the event, which takes place at the Business Design Centre in Islington, London, UK.
Sony is one of the gold sponsors of the event, and we will be there to demonstrate our latest products, talk about how we can assist developers, and host speaker sessions on some inspiring topics. Erik Hellman, a research engineer within Sony, will have a session called Fast, user-friendly and power-efficient network communication on Android. In this session, Erik will  explain how to handle network communication in the most effective way possible, as there is a  difficult balance between latency, power-efficiency, data charges and several other aspects that can be the cause for bad reviews. Another interesting event taking place in conjunction with Droidcon is the final VHack for Android, starting right after Droidcon on Friday night, October 26. This is actually the final hack of a tournament of local hackathons being arranged by a number of European Google developer groups to celebrate the fifth birthday of Android, as it became public on November 5th, 2007.
In September and October, you can participate in the local hackathons, and each winning team receives a chance to defend their user group at the London VHack.
