Twitter is a social network that enables millions of people around the world to connect with peers, fans or businesses directly – in no more than 140 characters. If you’re a Twitter user, the chances are you’ll want to be connected to it when you’re away from your computer; that’s where Twitter apps come in useful. Here are a handful of Twitter apps for your Nokia Belle smartphone from Nokia Store.
Tweetian – £Free, receiving 4 out of 5 stars by users
Tweetian has been developed using Qt/QML, so there’s a Nokia N9 version, too.
With a easy to navigate UI, this is a really clean app. Swiping from left to right, you’ll switch between your own timeline, your @mentions and your Direct Messages (DMs)
Supports many different image upload services and allows you to see other people’s images, too, with no hassle.
The autofill feature of @mentions and #hashtags are really useful when composing a Tweet.
Gravity – £8.00, receiving 4 out of 5 stars by users
Gravity has long been considered the best Twitter client for Symbian smartphones over the past couple of years. It’s developed by one guy named Jan Ole Suhr who makes regular updates to the app to add features and fix bugs; listening carefully to his fan base and communicating directly with them.
The User Interface (UI) is what most people like and it’s easy to see why. It’s fluid, smooth and just works.
Posting updates, following people’s timelines, adding locations to tweets and uploading photos are all possible with Gravity. And, naturally, all the usual functions you’d expect to find at Twitter.com can be achieved with this app.
It even supports multiple Twitter accounts, for those that have them.
Nearby Tweets – £Free, receiving 3 out of 5 stars by users
This is a little different but still quite cool.
Sometimes you don’t want to see the world’s Tweets. Sometimes you just want to know what’s happening around you, right now. That’s where this app can help.
Using your phone’s GPS signal or cell tower connection, Nearby Tweets finds tweets from people in close proximity. This is particularly useful if there’s been an accident, if police have blocked your street or you’re just looking to find out what locals are saying about a new street you’ve just moved into. Whatever your reason, it’s a clever little app.
Tweeties: Best Twitter Client – £4.00, receiving 4 out of 5 stars by users
With a title like that, it really needs to deliver – I’ll leave that for you to decide, though.
Tweeties has been designed to provide a clean and simple UI, with an optimised keyboard for hammering out those Tweets during a busy day.
Naturally, you’ve got the option to add photos to your Tweets and add other people’s Tweets to your favourites section, as you would online.
