Opera to power the web experience on Dune HD hybrid media players

Opera Software and Dune HD, a leading hybrid media player producer, announced that the companies will work together to deliver the Opera Devices Software Development toolkit (SDK) on Dune HD set-top boxes and advanced hybrid media players. Dune HD devices powered by Opera’s web experience will soon be shipping in 60 countries around the world.

Dune HD players combine a home media player with a set-top box, giving users seamless content delivery while optimizing service monetization for operators. The Dune HD media players provide users with a VoD experience, broadcast reception and Digital Media Adapter functionality. With the Opera Devices SDK on board, all Dune HD models will bring optimized web browsing for TV. Opera’s HTML5 engine, enhancing operator’s graphical user interfaces, will also make them ready to run Smart TV apps.
