MTS acquired Belgorod provider "Elf"

Telecommunications operator MTS announced the acquisition of 100% of the share capital of "Elf" and LLC "Efkom" providing fixed-line services in Belgorod and Belgorod region under the brand of "Elf." The deal amounted to 220 million rubles, the operator is no net debt. As stated by the MTS, this purchase allowed him to take a leading position in the markets of cable television and broadband Internet access in Belgorod.

Media Group "Elf" since 1997 and provides in Belgorod and Belgorod region fixed broadband Internet access, analog and digital television. Provider's subscriber base is around 51,000 households: more than 33,000 cable TV subscribers and about 18,000 home Internet subscribers.

Fixed network MTS Group after the acquisition of the operator "Elf" with the existing infrastructure of the MTS network covers 95% of households in Belgorod. More than 90% of the network of MTS Group in Belgorod built on technology FTTB (Fiber-To-The-Buildig, «FTTH").

Financial results of LLC "Elf" and LLC "Efkom" will be consolidated in the accounts of OJSC "MTS" on 17 August 2012.
