Esri releases a new module for spatial analysis - Esri Maps for Office

The Russian company Esri CIS announced the release of an analytical module Esri Maps for Office, which allows business users to visualize data, creating and publishing interactive maps directly into the application Microsoft Office. Esri Maps for Office provides support for decision-making through the use of spatial analysis. The module is built into the "cloud" mapping platform ArcGIS Online and is available for free download for Microsoft Office 2010.

As the developers say, with Esri Maps for Office, business users can quickly create interactive maps directly from the tables of Microsoft Excel. These maps are generated based on any spatially oriented data, such as the whereabouts of customers or sales in a particular region and can be easily added to the Microsoft PowerPoint presentation or publish in the ArcGIS Online. At the same time after the publication in ArcGIS Online maps will be available to users within the organization. Also, these cards can be installed in a mobile or web application. Recall also that in the ArcGIS online published and Russian satellite imagery.

As the company notes, interactive maps, and presentations can detect previously hidden important factors affecting the business and to visualize the ways of its further development. In this case the user does not require specific knowledge in the field of GIS technologies - he can just continue to work in a familiar environment, Microsoft Office. To create a card, users can use predefined templates and base maps available from a vast library of ArcGIS Online.
