Official statement from OAO "VimpelCom" on the fact of the transfer of confidential information to third parties

The company JSC "VimpelCom" officially reported on the investigative and operational activities in conjunction with law enforcement authorities to identify the fact of several cases of transmission of confidential information to third parties by the former employee of the Company.

The company said that operating for many years, the system of protection of confidential information and personal data, allows for early attempts to detect illegal actions in respect of personal data of subscribers. Because of this, the criminal actions have been identified, the cause of which was the "human factor". With regard to the former employee of a criminal case on grounds of crimes under Art. 137 of the Criminal Code (violation of privacy), 138 of the Criminal Code (violation of the secrecy of correspondence, telephone conversations, postal, telegraph and other messages).

The company apologizes to the few affected customers whose personal data have become available to third parties. The company is ready to continue to assist in the investigation of the situation, and will be ready to consider the issue of compensation for affected customers on completion of investigation.
