Gartner: mobile phone sales were down 2%

, Gartner published its version of mobile phone sales statistics in the first quarter of 2012. Total sales to end users totaled 419.1 million units. This is 2% less than was delivered in the same period last year. According to Gartner, is the first time since 2009, when sales of mobile phones has not grown in the annual comparison. The reason was to reduce the decline in sales in the Asia-Pacific region, where the first quarter is typically the most productive year since it accounts for the Chinese New Year. In 2012, during this period was the major releases from leading manufacturers, which consequently reduced the interest of buyers. In one way or another from that affected all producers, and most of all by Nokia, which was able to realize a significant number of vehicles in the channel, but not the end user. As representatives of Gartner expect some of these vehicles will be sold in the following quarters. In the first quarter of 2012, Samsung became the world's number one in sales of all types of mobile phones by moving the position of this Finnish Nokia, which has risen on the first stage in 1998. Sales of Samsung reached 86.6 million units during the quarter, while Nokia has dropped to 83.2 million units. Even more strikingly, this difference is visible when comparing the first quarter of 2011, when the supply of Samsung accounted for only 68.8 million, and Nokia - 107,6 million units. Company occupied respectively 25.1% and 16.1% of the market, and this year is 20.7% and 19.8%. In third place was Apple is supplying only one model of smartphones - in 2011 in the first quarter of iPhone owners have 16.9 million customers (3.9% of the market), the current is 33.1 million (7.9% market share). The top ten also included the ZTE (4,2%), LG (3,5%), Huawei (2,6%), RIM (2,4%), Motorola (2,0%), Sony (1,9 %) and HTC (1,8%). The growth in market share showed only ZTE (from 2.5% to 4.2%) and Huawei (from 1.6% to 2.6%). Remained unchanged share of Sony, with almost constant volume of supply.
