The mobile operator MTS, presented an analytical overview of the market for mobile phones and smartphones in Russia, prepared by experts from MTS retail network.
According to the company, the number of phones sold in Russia in Q1 2012 increased by 10.1% over the same period last year. Total sales in Russia totaled 9.5 million units.
In monetary terms, in the 1st quarter of 2012 the market grew by 12.4% over the same period last year. The volume of the mobile phone market in Russia in Q1 2012 amounted to 44.0 billion rubles. In Q1 2012 the average market price of the sold mobile devices rose by 2.1% compared to same period of 2011 to 4.6 thousand.
In the 1st quarter of 2012 Russia had sold 2.5 million smartphones. Compared to the same period last year, sales of smartphones grew by 1.7 times. At the end of Q1 2012 the share of smartphones in the total number of mobile phones sold was 26.7%.
In monetary terms, in the 1st quarter of 2012 the volume of the smartphone market reached 26.8 billion rubles, which is 1.6 times higher compared to the same period last year. In monetary terms, in the 1st quarter of 2012 the share of smart phones had 60.9% of the mobile phone market.
The average market price of smartphones in Q1 2012 declined by 5.4% compared to same period of 2011 to 10,598 rubles.
