The analyst firm Strategy Analytics report is presented according to which the Finnish company Nokia has lost its 14-year leadership in the global mobile market. Thus, in the first quarter of 2012 Samsung Electronics has released 93.5 million mobile devices (phones, including smartphones). This is 24.6 million more than last year. For comparison, during the period Nokia shipped just 82.7 million units, while in the first quarter of 2011 this number amounted to 108.5 million. At the moment, Samsung holds about a quarter of the entire mobile market - 25.4%, while the share of Nokia on the basis of the past quarter was 22.5%. This is followed by Apple (35,1 million units and 9.5% market share), while 42.6% is for other manufacturers of mobile devices. In addition, Samsung has surpassed Apple and became the world's largest manufacturer of smartphones, occupying 31% of the market, experts say Strategy Analytics. In the first quarter, sales of smartphones totaled 44.5 million Samsung units, the growth for the year reached 253%.
