Microsoft has patented two-sided display for smartphones


Microsoft has filed an application with the U.S. Office of Patents and trademarks (United States Patent and Trademark Office), which describes an unusual display for mobile devices. More precisely, it is a double-sided display, one of which, as usual, will be located on the front panel and the second - on the back of the smartphone or tablet.

Secondary display will be economical in terms of energy consumption, possibly made of technology E-Ink. He will be able to display certain types of information, for example, time, any text data and the like. This will free up more space on the main display. As described in the application, the second display to work on their energy-efficient processor that will not include the main display, and save battery power. It is not clear whether there were plans in the near future, the realization of this patent in the real products.
