Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, announced world's first 400G long-haul DWDM system boasting the industry's largest transmission capacity at OFC/NFOEC 2012. The 400G DWDM system provides a capacity of up to 20 Tbit/s over a single fiber (C-band) and a transmission distance spanning 1,000 km without electrical regeneration. The DWDM technology goes beyond 100G with the rapid expansion of broadband services. The 400G DWDM marks another major breakthrough in the high-speed transport field.
Bolstered by the mature technologies available, the 400G DWDM is regarded as the next-generation DWDM system for deploying ubiquitous ultra-broadband networks. The 400G DWDM prototype employs the cutting-edge SD-FEC, unique coherent algorithm, and high-performance optical modules. Huawei showcased the access of 400GE and 4×100GE services and new OTN technology at the OTU-5 level. The prototype can be applied over the Huawei WDM/OTM platform to allow for smooth evolution from 40G/100G.
"The advanced 400G DWDM solution satisfies carriers' requirements of upgrading network bandwidth in the future. Huawei is dedicated to helping customers achieve their business goals through a commitment to customer-centric innovation. We are delighted to help carriers overcome bandwidth challenges," said Christian Chua, president of Transport product line, Huawei.
As a pioneer in 100G DWDM, Huawei has deployed over 16 commercial and 50 trial 100G networks to date. Huawei provides first-class transport network products, such as WDM/OTN/ MS-OTN, MSTP/Hybrid MSTP, microwave products, and end-to-end network solutions. According to consultancy firm Ovum, Huawei ranked No. 1 in the global optical network market, WDM/OTN market, and 40G network market as of Q3 2011.
