Russian operator MegaFon announced that it, together with operators Lattelecom (Latvia) and Deutsche Telekom (Germany) organized a new shortest route transit traffic from Russia to Europe - Baltic Highway. The operator said that the Baltic Highway - is the shortest route connecting Russia and Germany (point of traffic exchange in Frankfurt am Main) and the use of this channel provides low-latency data transmission. This route will provide an alternative to existing transit channels through Russia, Finland, Sweden and Germany in the north and in the south of Ukraine. Baltic Highway fiber optic line can transmit data from Russia and Asia, through the Baltic States, Poland and Germany at rates n * 10 Gb / s. To ensure high-quality transmission of data at high speeds, use the most modern and widespread technology DWDM. Baltic Highway project presentation held in the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Latvia. It was attended by representatives of MegaFon, Lattelecom and Deutsche Telekom, the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Latvia, as well as representatives of the embassies of Russia and Germany in Latvia.
