Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, unveiled a new generation multi-mode & dual-core MxU platform that will provide customers with upgraded offerings through cutting-edge technologies. The high-performance MxU platform supports PON/10G-PON multi-mode uplink and Vectoring downlink, and will greatly enhance the processing speed and reliability of MxU systems, reducing system failures by half.
As a key component of Huawei's SingleFAN solution, the platform will enable MxU series to support forward compatibility of its 10G-PON cards with PON in the uplink direction and the latest Vectoring access technology, achieving copper-based access rate at 100 Mbit/s.
The MxU uses advanced dual-core CPU design, which greatly improves processing speed and enables carrier-class system reliability, as timely protection switching will occur when a CPU subsystem is faulty. Furthermore, the MxU rides on the industry-leading dual-BIOS technology. The system can restore automatically when an operation error causes an upgrade failure, thereby ensuring reliable service upgrades.
The MxU adopts an intelligent architecture that integrates path protection, remote monitoring, web-based management, VPN functions, and hardware support for Y.1731. This simplifies network performance monitoring and better caters to the needs of various service scenarios. The MxU also supports intelligent fault detection over PONs and real-time fault detection for voice services, shortening troubleshooting time and improving customer satisfaction.
According to consultancy firm Infonetics, MxU devices have become a mainstream broadband access product today, and in the past two years, Huawei has ranked No. 1 in the global fixed broadband and MxU markets. Huawei's SingleFAN solution is serving one-third of the world’s broadband access subscribers.
