SANDISK AND VIRIDENT COLLABORATE TO INCREASE ENTERPRISE SERVER AND STORAGE PERFORMANCE

SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ: SNDK), a global leader in flash memory storage solutions, announced it is working with Virident Systems, Inc., an industry-leading supplier of PCIe flash storage solutions, on projects to combine Virident hardware technology with FlashSoft™ software from SanDisk.® The SanDisk-Virident collaboration includes co-marketing, sales cooperation, joint testing and validation programs, and support and services assistance.

Both FlashSoft software and Virident FlashMAX PCIe cards are available for Linux, Windows® Server and VMware® vSphere™ environments, giving customers the ability use this complementary solution to boost storage execution in a variety of platforms.

"SanDisk's enterprise software business is keenly focused on improving hardware performance on SanDisk and non-SanDisk platforms alike," said Greg Goelz, vice president and general manager, Enterprise Storage Solutions. "Working with Virident allows us to reach a greater number of customers with a broader set of solutions aimed at improving the performance of servers and storage devices."

SanDisk and Virident have conducted performance tests showing that a Virident FlashMAX I PCIe card using FlashSoft software can accelerate the performance of certain Microsoft SQL Server workloads by nearly 700 percent versus storage based on a hard disk drive array1. The goal of the SanDisk-Virident collaboration is to provide the companies' customers with easy access to the significant performance gains provided by the combined hardware-software solution.

"Virident FlashMAX is industry renowned for superior, sustained performance over time and across diverse workloads," said Shridar Subramanian, vice president, product marketing at Virident. "Now the Virident FlashMAX storage solution is further complemented by FlashSoft software. We are looking forward to further expansion of our customer base with this partnership, as we continue to provide superior support and service for our joint customer base."

"This collaboration between Virident and SanDisk is good news for customers who want the benefits of SanDisk's caching software, as well as the reliable performance of Virident's storage-class memory for the caching hardware platform," said James Bagley, senior analyst, Storage Strategies NOW. "The relationship between the two companies serves as a proof point to SanDisk's enterprise solutions strategy and Virident's commitment to ecosystem partnerships to deliver a complete enterprise hardware and software solution to a growing customer base."
