Touch controls work for some games, but as I'm sure most of you have experienced, controlling anything more complex than an angry feathered creature is next to impossible. After hours of trying to play Grand Theft Auto III with virtual on-screen joysticks, I went looking for a better answer.

After flipping through pages of cheap gimmicky Bluetooth controllers, I stumbled across the Sony Dualshock3 controller and the Sixaxis app. The Sixaxis app allows many Android phones to connect to a Playstation 3 controller to give native analog input and emulate touch and hardware controls. I thought I had found my answer, but where do I put my phone if the controller is in my hands? Enter the GameKlip™.

The GameKlip™ is my solution to the Android gaming problem. The GameKlip is made out of strong ABS plastic and easily snaps onto your DualShock3 controller, providing a solid mounting platform for your Android phone. Each GameKlip™ is laser cut and thermoformed to the controller and phone.

Is my phone compatible with a Dualshock3 controller?

The GameKlip™ only mounts your Android device on your controller. There is no connectivity software included with the GameKlip™. To pair my controller with my phone, I used an app called "Sixaxis Controller," by Dancing Pixel Studios, available on Google Play. Unfortunately not all phones are compatible and root access is currently required for wireless connections. Make sure to try the "Sixaxis Compatibility Checker" to see if your phone is compatible before buying. If the compatibility checker says you don't have root permissions for a wireless connection, see below.

What if I don't have root or don't know if I do? Will I still be able to use a GameKlip™?

Yes! I have confirmed that my Galaxy S3 (AT&T) supports a wired connection to a Dualshock 3 controller right out of the box, no special apps required! If you don't have root, or would rather play with a wired connection, select the "wired GameKlip" option at checkout and I'll include the necessary cable. The cable is short, light, and doesn't hinder your gaming at all. Not all phones support wired connections, I have only tested this with the Galaxy S3.

What devices is the GameKlip™ available for?

To maintain simplicity, each GameKlip™ is built and sized for a specific phone model. I stock GameKlips for the more popular phones and may be able to fabricate GameKlips™ for most other devices on demand.
