Motorola Mobility’s Innovative Carrier Ethernet Product Line Makes European Debut at ANGA Cable 2012

Portfolio allows cable operators to leverage their HFC infrastructure for flexible deployment of integrated or independently-deployed enterprise services and mobile backhaul.

Motorola Mobility, owned by Google, is showcasing another innovation in the evolution of networks through its expanded set of Carrier Ethernet solutions at ANGA Cable 2012, Level 10.2, Booth # E39. This versatile portfolio is designed to help service providers deploy cost-effective enterprise networking and mobile backhaul services to satisfy a diverse set of needs and offer an end-to-end solution. Cable service providers can utilize the existing hybrid fiber coaxial (HFC) infrastructure to expand their service offering, generating new revenue streams and increasing the return on investment from their installed HFC plant.

Motorola’s Carrier Ethernet portfolio consists of a series of aggregation switches/routers, customer premises demarcation products, a leading edge service management platform, and an innovative 10 Gbps Carrier Ethernet switch designed for deployment in the fibre node. Offering a full portfolio of established, proven Carrier Ethernet products as part of an integrated, multiple-service offering, all from one company, brings unique value to the market. This “one-stop shop” for key infrastructure needs offers service providers high-quality Carrier Ethernet products at competitive price points, enabling service providers to continue to expand their share of the lucrative Ethernet enterprise network services market.

Motorola’s Carrier Ethernet product line is certified by the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF), a global industry alliance comprising more than 150 organizations including telecommunications service providers, cable operators, network equipment/software manufacturers, semiconductors vendors and testing organizations. The MEF develops Carrier Ethernet technical specifications and implementation agreements to promote interoperability and deployment of Carrier Ethernet worldwide, so this certification provides an important validation to Motorola’s offerings.

Specifically, Motorola’s wide array of Carrier Ethernet products will allow customers to extend end-to-end Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) and Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS) to the edge of their network, increasing scalability and facilitating a true multi-service network. Motorola’s solution supports expansion slots for Circuit Emulation Service (CES), hardware-based Operations Administration, and Maintenance (OAM), SyncE and 1588v2 clock distribution inter-working as well as an array of network resiliency protocols and sub 50ms resiliency on any network level failure. Additionally, the solution provides the end-to-end service and service-level agreement (SLA) monitoring, provisioning, maintenance and network analysis capabilities that are critical in the enterprise services market.
