Wave 525 and 533 won’t be updated to bada 2.0

We hate to be the bearer of bad news but it seems Samsung won’t update Wave 525 and Wave 533 to bada 2.0 OS. Samsung had previously confirmed to release the update for all Wave devices but in an email sent to bada devs, Samsung announced that Wave devices with WQVGA resolution will be segregated into two groups – “Wave(WQVGA)” and “Wave(WQVGA)_bada 1.1 only.”

The first group that will receive the bada 2.0 update and support bada 1.1 and 2.0 API includes devices like Wave 575, 578 and 723 whereas the other group includes Wave 525 and Wave 533 which will support only bada 1.1 API.

Samsung however, has promised to offer “Value Pack” upgrades that tries to give an experience similar to bada 2.0 OS.

Samsung’s definition of Value Pack is as follows:

Samsung is offering “Value Pack” upgrade for devices that do not support bada 2.0 upgrade due to hardware limitations such as main chipset performance and available network speed. “Value Pack” is designed to offer the same bada 2.0 user experience and service as much as possible despite the hardware limitations.
