Google & Samsung confirm volume bug is a software issue–update incoming

Further to our announcement earlier regarding the Samsung Galaxy Nexus volume bug, both Samsung and Google have confirmed that the fault is software, NOT hardware, related and that an update will be released as soon as possible.

Speaking to AndroidPolice, Android PR gave the following statement:

We are aware of the volume issue and have developed a fix. We will update devices as soon as possible.

Samsung also went with an almost identical statement on its Facebook Page.

We will post again once the update has been released and provide customers with instructions as to how the update can be applied to Galaxy Nexus handsets. We would expect such an important update to be released imminently to resolve the problem.

At this stage we have shipped Galaxy Nexus pre-orders as planned and will do our best to ship any outstanding orders at the earliest possible opportunity.
